19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his first trophy since the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after spring of that year.

The win also means Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and frequent emotional displays on court had caused commentators to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was concluded.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

He rescued four initial chances in a close deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
