US Military Struck a 'Major Complex' in the Venezuelan nation, Trump Asserted Without Providing Details.

Former President Trump has claimed that US forces struck a "major facility" in Venezuela in recent days. Yet, the former president withheld information about the exact purpose or location of the strike, and there has been no additional clarification from his camp.

Unspecific Remarks Offered In a Radio Show

"We just eliminated – I'm not sure if you saw – they have a large facility, where the ships originate. Two nights ago, we took it out. So we hit them with significant force," Trump allegedly told GOP supporter and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Potential Significance of a Verified Attack

If a US strike is confirmed, it would constitute the first ground target hit since the US Department of Defense began a increase of US military presence in the region to disrupt drug traffickers that the former administration claims operate under the direction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

This original mission of the force deployment has transformed into a blockade aimed at disrupting the country's crude oil shipments.

Social Media Footage and Official Statements

Trump has for some time warned that US forces are ready to expand the military campaign by attacking targets within Venezuela, a strategy that would in theory require legislative authorization.

A clip posted on social media on 24 December appeared to show an blast said to be from an industrial area in Zulia state. However, the footage or the facility has not been confirmed by third parties.

An official from Trump's team allegedly informed a news network that the former president was describing a narco-trafficking site in his remarks.

Reaction and Current Strategic Posture

The Venezuelan government has issued no statement on the event Trump described. Furthermore, there have been no corroborating news from Venezuela about it.

The buildup of US military in the region – a stance certain officials have called a naval quarantine – constitutes the most expansive maritime enforcement action of Trump's presidency.

Sources have stopped short from describing the operation as a blockade, but have confirmed that about 15,000 troops are positioned across the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, including a carrier strike group, F-35 aircraft, and law enforcement vessels to implement existing sanctions.
